Positioned in the centre of the award-winning village of Thornton-le-Dale, this stunning 300 year old cottage is beautifully restored and furnished as befitting a period property of its age yet with all modern conveniences available. This interesting quirky cottage is full of antiquities with each room individually designed and crafted by the local owners. You will never want to leave this inviting comfy home, overlooking Thornton beck and minutes away from walks in the breathtaking North Yorkshire hills and valleys.

Oak-beamed throughout, the cottage provides sleeping for six guests in either a twin/double/or king-size bedded room with the double being en suite. Practice your culinary skills in our traditionally furnished kitchen then dine and relax in the large lounge/dining room in front of a cosy fire or in our relaxing snug. Warm summer evenings can spent in the south-facing garden or enjoying your favourite barbeque cuisine.

This rural village on the foothills of the moors also offers such conveniences as Sonia’s superb delicatessen across the road, a warm welcome and great food at the New Inn, a fish and chip/pizza takeaway, a mini supermarket, chemist, bike shop and a must see motor museum. Everything you could want and need on your doorstep.

Dalby Forest, offering a fantastic range of amenities is only two miles away and the historic market town of Pickering with its steam railway, castle, shops and cafes only five minutes by car. You could stay for weeks visiting tiny fishing villages clinging to the rocks of the north east coast or exploring the hamlets and villages of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Perfect for families, cyclers, walkers and nature lovers, Archway Cottage has a good size outbuilding and large garage both of which are secured to keep your equipment safe. The newly formed garden and patio leads to the garage and a further parking space. From here, a two minute walk, (with no roads to cross), takes you to the best playground you are likely to see with toddler rides, wooden play frames, skate park, all-weather terrain games court and picnic tables. Your children will play happily here for many hours.

Up to 6 people are able to stay comfortably at Archway Cottage. We have 3 floors and just as many bedrooms to accomodate you all. Around the back of the house you will find a garage, bike shed and outdoor seating that is spacious enough for all 6 guests to enjoy.

The best childrens park and skatepark around the area is just a 2 minute walk up the footpath to the side of the cottage. Kids can play safely for hours while you enjoy the spaciousness of our cottage.

Things to do in North Yorkshire

Thornton Dale may be a small village but there is no shortage of things to get out and do, eat or experience. We are surrounded by beautiful towns such as Helmsley, Scarborough or York. We are within 2 miles of the great Dalby Forest.

The forest and surround area has dozens (probably hundreds) of dog walks and mountain bike trails. There's something for everyone from secluded forest walks to spectacular views on the moors.

We are also only 30 minutes from the closest beaches in Scarborough and Whitby. You've probably heard of the famous fish and chips you can get here.
